Starting the weekend off for Sudbury Joggers was Jules Cooper who ran the Thalha & Yamu Super Love 15K Mini Marathon in Phuket, Thailand. Our MS Warrior said that her race didn’t go according to plan, but she still managed to come first in her age group.

13 miles to 42 miles!

Anthony Harris ran the Brighton Half Marathon in 1 hour 49 minutes. Anthony said that the last few miles were really hard as it got very hot.

Running over 42 miles through the Essex countryside in the St Peters Way Ultra was Jim Comber (6:24:49), Clive Davey (7:24:38) and, gaining a new personal best, Sarah Pennock in 8:58:12.

Tarpley 10/20

Meanwhile, not to far from Bury St Edmunds, 30 members of Sudbury Joggers were running either the Tarpley 10 mile or Tarpley 20 mile races that started and finished at Thurston Community College in Beyton.

Running the Tarpley 10 was James Wood (1:14:33), Cliff Manning (1:20:22), Jimmy Secker (1:21:26), Mark Johnstonwood (1:23:05), Simon Elliott (1:27:33), Ruth Cowlin (1:30:09), Jonathan Price (1:30:04), Samantha Cooper (1:30:40), Andrea Hunt (1:31:35), Sarah Jeggo (1:34:24), Lisa Dalton (1:43:52), Michelle Holland (1:45:25), Claire Fradley (1:45:25), Claire Rooke (1:46:52), Jacquie Webb (1:58:49), Nicola Cant (1:58:49), Sue Crawte (2:08:49) and Julie Rout (2:18:43).

Running the Tarpley 20 was Piotr Bulacz (2:13:17), Charles Hann (2:26:34), Richard Smith (2:29:01), Jamie Fittock (2:33:51), Lucy Cowlin (2:38:31), Gary Godfrey (2:42:32), Jacqueline Hann (2:57:12), Steven Jeggo (2:59:31), Lisa Dove (3:08:20), Kieran Hayles (3:16:51), Jenny Merry (3:24:38) and Steve Roberts (4:47:48).

Lisa Dalton has said that she started Tarpley 10 hoping to plod around in under two hours. But some days things just come together and you smash out a sub 1:44. Things also went well for Andrea Hunt, Cliff Manning and Jenny Merry at Tarpley as they earnt themselves a new personal best for their efforts. For Jenny Merry, Lisa Dove and Lucy Cowlin, the 20 mile race is the furthest distance they’ve run.

On top of those achievements, Piotr Bulacz got first palce in his age category, Lucy Cowlin got second place in her age category and Gary Godfrey for 3rd place in his age category. Lisa Dove and Cliff Manning also received their 3rd place trophies for their age group in the 2018 Suffolk Grand Prix.
