Who are Sudbury Joggers?

Sudbury Joggers Running Club is based in the Sudbury area of West Suffolk.

The club meets on Wednesday Evenings at 6.50pm for a 7.00pm run from the Kingfisher Leisure Centre.

We are affiliated to England Athletics and many members compete in road races, cross country, trail and off-road races, from 5km to ultra-marathons.

Distances run on club nights depend on who and how many turn up, and the time of year and weather conditions, but there will always be someone to run with. In fact we make a point of not letting anyone run on their own on club nights.

How we operate

Sudbury Joggers running club has also formed a composite team with Newmarket Joggers to take part in The Fenn Wright Suffolk Winter Cross Country League. A series of 6 cross country events including Framlingham, Woodbridge, Bungay, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds. There is a trophy presentation and fun cross country relay event at Woodbridge School to finalise the league each March.

Club members are entitled to take part in the Suffolk Cross Country Championships which occurs annually in January.

No pressure is put onto members to take part in any of the organised events, so if anyone wants to just run for pleasure and fitness they will be made more than welcome.

Anyone training with a marathon in mind can often meet up with other club members on a Sunday morning for that longer run which can be taken more seriously if needed. These longer training runs are usually arranged on Wednesday evenings.

Do you want to know how Sudbury Joggers started? Well, we have a brief history that tells you all about it.

I always say it doesn’t matter if you run a 5 minute mile or a 15 minute mile, everyone is treated equally at Sudbury Joggers. Same support, same encouragement and same praise for your achievements. When I’d done Bury to Clare last year a woman commented on what an amazing club we were.
